M.Y. Yu Foundation is currently focusing on the extreme poor areas of Cambodia, Nepal and Xinjiang, China. Here, we have designed an art education curriculum that is simple to integrate with local schools and organizations, and we provide all of the school supplies necessary to create and maintain fully-functional art classrooms. We work with local administrators to train teachers in the subject of art and prepare them for engaging children on a new level of learning and creativity. With art education in place, we establish a fundraising platform that is designed to help bring basic necessities to these struggling communities. As the children go to art class and draw, paint, color and perform other artistic activities, teachers will select artworks to be included in the fundraising initiative. These pieces will be collected and displayed through local networks and online, where they may be purchased by caring individuals around the world. The proceeds from the sale of children’s artwork will be used to purchase food, school supplies, school uniforms, clothing, hygiene products and other essentials that impact these children’s lives in a positive way.
